Michael Kerres
Professor of Educational Sciences

As a professor of educational sciences I hold the chair of Educational Technology and Instructional Design within the Faculty of Educational Sciences of University of Duisburg-Essen. I am directing the Learning Lab, a research and development facility working on projects for digital innovations in education.

The Lab is organized in groups addressing the various sectors of secondary, higher, vocational, adult and corporate education. It is responsible for two online-master degree programs: Educational Media and Educational Leadership, and several certificate programs.

We follow an approach of design-based research in education and cooperate with our university's Interdisciplinary Center of Educational Research, that comprises around 200 educational researchers of the different faculties of our university.

I have authored the German textbooks Mediendidaktik (5th ed.) and Didaktik (1st ed.) with the accompanying website didaktik.info

As a partner of learninglab GmbH, we are providing support und consulting to stakeholders in the various fields of education - to "explore the future of learning".
