Abstract
The Community of Learning for Africa (COLA) - which will be supported by the WUN - builds a network of African PhD fellows, supervisors and international researchers, working in the fields Governance, Public Policy, Innovation, Technology and Economic Development.
COLA constitutes an platform that fosters an online learning/research community. The platform supports (young) African researchers by enhancing their research skills and providing them with courses and modules on state-of-the-art developments in their content domains, as well as research skills (e.g. on how to structure and design research and which tools can help to support these processes). Furthermore, (young) researchers are supported in improving their research, by providing them with the possibility to receive individualized feedback from selected, international and re-known academic staff. These staff will discuss research proposals and help improving them to yield high quality academic papers and publications (e.g. within working papers, SSCI-indexed journals). Additionally, (young) researchers can exchange information, feedback and expertise via dedicated discussion boards. This will not only contribute to the improvement of the quality of their research, but also expand their network within their applicable content domain(s). Moreover, COLA will provide access to information on relevant conferences and other sources of information.
