The workshop offers a sketchy introduction to Ethnomethodology as a non-formal, non-theoretical, and emic research approach with a particular focus on the methods people use to establish and maintain social order in their everyday life. We cover aspects such as accountability, ethnomethods, instructions and instructed action, intersubjectivity, members, and social amnesia. We will discuss and try how the researcher can move from reasoned conjecture “the aha moment” to documented conjectures using a variety of research methods such as captioning, breaching experiments and hybrid studies.
